New Release: 2017 Reserve Mirage
New Wine Release: 2017 Reserve Mirage:
This is our 2nd vintage of this delicious dessert wine. Produced in a “Port-style” which means we add grape spirits to bring the alcohol content to 20%, then sweeten to the perfect balance to sip with dessert. Hints of dark cherry, plum and mocha are intriguing and pair perfectly with anything chocolate. This hasn’t been entered in competitions yet but the folks at Tastings.com had this to say about the 2016 vintage:
Bright dark violet color. Aromas of mulberry, bramble, and wild mint with a round, lively, sweet medium body and a warming, compelling, relaxed fruitcake, chocolate covered butterscotch, and English toffee finish with medium tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. A port-style wine for delicious dessert pairings.

Rose' is all the rage this summer
White Pine released our first dry rose', Ladyslipper Blush, in 2017. It is decidedly pink with aromas and flavors of fresh cherries and strawberries - a perfect summer sipper. But the trend among some in the wine community has been toward rose's that are ever more pale and light. Now the jury is in and the verdict is: pale rose' is acidic and often without flavor. On the other hand rose's that are harvested later with riper grapes and more color have yielded more desriable wines with better flavor, color and balance.
Our wine maker, Dr. Dave Miller, structured the White Pine Lady Slipper Blush / Rose' to reflect the better balance and flavor of ripe grapes. "We harvest later to be sure we have ripe flavors", says Dr. Dave. The wine may have a bit more color but that just reflects the riper flavors you can expect from this delicious summer sipper.
Lady Slipper Blush is on sale! To celebrate May / Michigan Wine Month we are offering a $3 / bottle discount on Lady Slipper Blush, marked down from $16.99 to $13.99 / bottle. Come in for a cold bottle to sip on the deck tonight!
